The primary goal of The Inner Pup is to train pets and their guardians with the intention of improving the lives of both. The secondary purpose is a passionate effort to stop the vicious cycle of pet neglect/abuse in homes and to stem the tide of the return rate of dogs to animal shelters.

The Inner Pup's philosophy is based on the belief that in order to train and maintain a wonderful companion, you need to understand who your dog is, how he thinks and how he learns. This attitude puts the responsibility on the pet owner to put in time and effort with his dog partner. Once this important foundation is established, you, the pet owner, are in an ideal position to help your dog develop excellent habits and polite manners.  Your dog will rely on you for guidance and leadership, which will cement the bond between the two of you, reinforce the excellent relationship you have established and perfect the training.

We believe it is possible to successfully train any dog at any stage in his life. The earlier you commit to training your dog, the simpler training will be, but it's very possible to successfully rehabilitate dogs that have lived in the most adverse conditions.

One big problem we see with owners and dogs is ineffective training. This is when good-intentioned dog owners ineffectively and consistently try to achieve their training goals! These owners often become frustrated and think that their dogs are stubborn or will “just never get it!” This frustration often translates into negativism, unsuccessful relationships and in the extreme, abuse or neglect.

The Inner Pup can eliminate the frustration for you and your pet through education. The results of excellent training are a healthy, fulfilling relationship with your pet, which will be an important source of satisfaction, enrichment, and contentment in your life. Training is an endeavor where the benefit is definitely worth the effort.

We will help you build a training foundation with your new puppy to set you up for great training for the rest of his life, give your adolescent dog a refresher course in basic etiquette, help manage and train your 8-year-old to stop pulling on the leash so that the two of you can enjoy your exercise time, or any other goals you have with your pooch.

Training is about building relationships. At The Inner Pup, we teach you how to properly communicate with your pet, as well as important ways to avoid miscommunication. Our method is to educate and guide you in both theory and technique. Once you appreciate how your dog communicates and learns, you will have the instincts and skills needed to develop a pleasurable life- long relationship with your furry friend, one that will provide limitless love to both of you. Whether you are seeking a well behaved companion or an enthusiastic competitor, The Inner Pup welcomes the opportunity to help you achieve training success.
